Record Cleaning Service

Introducing the Audio Elevation Record Cleaning Service

DJs, collectors or just normal Joes all have records that could benefit from professional cleaning once in a while.  Even brand new records benefit - hear it to believe it!   We use the highly regarded Clearaudio machines - they've had 25 years in the analogue business (have you seen their turntables - how cool are they?!) so have a rough idea what's needed, we think.    The cleaning process involves a wet process where record cleaning fluid specific for the purpose is applied to your record as it rotates on a platter, with the fluid worked into the grooves using a special pad/brush.  This gently scrubs the grooves (without damage) and brings all the dirt, debris and residue from the pressing process into solution.  You may have seen the cheaper manual machines on the market where you then leave a wet record on a drying rack until it's dry.  Not the best idea as this just means the crud you're trying to remove is worked deeper into the grooves and dries in situ.  Our Clearaudio vacuum machine actively defeats this by literally "hoovering" up the record until it's dry.

Clearaudio Smart Matrix Record Cleaning Machine

This is the second part of the process and is well worth doing to get the results you're looking for.   The process takes just a minute or so per record.  If it's particularly grubby, we may use the reversible function of the machine (getting the dirt in both directions) but don't be too surprised if we charge a little more for the "deep clean".  It's just a matter of taking more time, using more consumables, more wear and tear etc.   The results are better vocals, more space between instruments and a lower noise floor.  We've done "before" and "after" testing and always come up smiling.   The cleaning process has its limits, though.  Don't expect scratches to be removed and it's unlikely all the clicks/pops will go.  That said, because the noise floor is lowered, you'll hear more music so you'll find it easier to listen to your collection.   How much?   We're not here to fleece you of your hard earned but, if you've got 500 records to clean, that'll take us an age and mean we have no social life.

  • If it's the odd record, we'll charge £2 a disc.
  • For more than 50 (everyone's got that many it seems), it's £1.50 per disc.
  • More than 100 and we'll charge £1 a go.  Bargain!
  • Serious collections - call or email for a personalised quote.

Included for each cleaned record is a brand new Nagaoka-style anti static inner sleeve - there's little point cleaning it then putting it back in the old sleeve with 10 years' worth of dust and grime is there?  Obviously, you retain the original inner sleeve, lyrics sheet etc. and don't have to have the new sleeve if you don't want to.

If you have a really serious collection (you decide what that means!), get in touch and we'll work something out but don't get too comfortable or we'll sell you a new turntable too!  We can supply the Clearaudio cleaning machines too, if that will save you money in the long term.  Call for a quote.

Delivery/collection.  Postage costs make posting prohibitive.  Can we suggest you drop your collection off at an agreed time and we'll call you when it's ready for collection?  We'll deliver to a sensible radius but will end up charging more because of the cost and, more importantly, the time it takes.  Time is our real issue as it's a precious commodity to us.  If you can make it to us, we'll do our best to look after you, as we appreciate the sacrifice you will have made.
